Maxville Lake Winery ‘Big Max’ Red Blend
£17.00
In 1942 the last Brown Bearwas spotted in Northern California… at least that’s what we thought. Turns out that the kids who attended the Bar 49 Summer Camp on the Keith Family land (now known as Maxville) had a run in with a Brown Bear in the 60’s. He was legendary, the stuff of folklore…the subject of campfire circle stories for decades. His name was Big Max.
A blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, all of which are vinified separately. Once blended the wine is aged for 12 months, 35% of this in new French Oak barrels. Deep purple in colour. The bouquet shows aroma’s of black cherry, plum, toasty oak and vanilla, followed by hints of raspberry and herbs. Juicy on the palate with soft tannins and a lingering finish.
